Well basically everything that I wrote for her 6 month update has changed, in good ways! The biggest news: she is taking a bottle! And loves it!
It’s actually funny how well she chugs it down, as if it’s totally normal and she hasn’t been refusing it for the past 3.5 months. This girl. I’ve been nursing her first, then supplementing with about 6 oz of formula, 3 times per day. It’s so funny how I thought it was the end of the world when we had to give Beau a bottle, but now I’m just so happy that she’s eating and I don’t have to be constantly worried about her weight.
Her current stats:
Weight: 14 lbs (5%)
Height: 27 in (65%)
Head Circ.: 16.2 in (11%)
She also loves to eat food. She does not like purees but she loves “table food” and feeding herself. We give her little bites of basically anything soft enough for someone with no teeth: bread, beans, fruit, cooked veggies, puffs, etc. I think she actually prefers savory over sweet, and it blows my mind when she eats veggies since Beau has never liked them… I’m pretty sure he gets that from me, though.
When she’s full and/or doesn’t want any more food, instead of crying or getting upset, she usually just turns her head away and smiles. Who is this child?! If she never does anything bad in her whole life, I don’t think I’ll be surprised [said before the terrible twos].
There’s a chance that she’s teething? Kidding, she’s definitely teething, as evidenced by her biting everything. She’s not super fussy or anything but we can see where her bottom tooth/teeth are about to break through.
Grace still isn’t sleeping awesome but I have a feeling it will get better now that she’s going to bed with a full belly. I hope.
She’s scooting and rolling to be able to reach what she wants, and will army crawl a little bit if she really wants something. She’ll also go up on her elbows and knees and rock, which is adorable. Since the house is already basically baby proofed from Beau, We’re really excited for her to be able to move!
I think it’s funny when another mom apologizes for her child bumping into Grace/stealing her toy/etc… I’m like LOL don’t worry, she’s used to dealing with much worse from her brother. She’s so tough!
I don’t know why ‘6 months’ doesn’t sound that old to me but ‘7 months’ does?! As much as we wish she could be our tiny cuddly newborn forever, we’re so happy that she’s healthy and growing, and can’t wait to watch her continue to develop into her own personality. I guess we’ll just have to get a new newborn soon 😉 Kidding, not quite yet!
Awwww she is adorable!!!! And Beau is too!
I felt heartbroken and like it was the End of the world to supplement my baby with formula (he’s my first) , but I read something online that said “Fed is best” and also, breastfeeding does not have to be all or nothing, black and white. There’s a lot of gray areas and that’s where supplementing comes in. Congrats mama!
